A drone transforms photos of trees in 3D models

To take a shot from multiple angles, a special camera that provides the ability to provide excellent photos are needed, over time the technology has improved over the quality of photos that can be obtained.

Today there is the possibility to take pictures from various angles and they can be converted into a 3D model as it is very useful to use these models to calculate whether your area or to perform precise experiments in order to develop new techniques for work on a particular project.

Among the areas in which it is developing this kind of technology is the mapping and measuring land where many trees, so photos then needed only by means of a program that it can be converted into a 3D model editable which it can be used for endless profits.

Has been studies which used a drone to perform this task as it is a comfortable and easy to take pictures from above with only operate the device with a remote control that can be maneuvered easily way.

a new project of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) have developed through its researchers increased geometric data for the trees from aerial imagery and this type of procedure has been published in the journal PLoS ONE

Experts say this technology can project a 3D tree with 97% accuracy. "We worked in a woody crop and it is noteworthy that the benefits of our research can be very beneficial to forest crops" CSIC researcher emphasizes Francisca López Granados.

another benefit is that you can also study soil properties and the presence of weeds which is a great benefit to improve crops and thus analyzed the best way to improve the quality of life of the trees.
